The Sickle Cell Awareness Initiative is one that is being set up to specifically promote the awareness of the Sickle Cell condition here in the UK (with hope of influencing other countries).

“To preserve and protect the good health of those with sickle cell for the public benefit by:-

 

1.    Providing education and awareness of sickle cell through enlightening and entertaining events;

 

2.    To make grants in the trustees absolute discretion to support sickle cell charities;

 

3.  To fund research and publish all useful results arising from any research supported; and 

 

4.  To engage with corporate organisations to include sickle cell health sponsorship on their charity objectives which the trustees deem appropriate in furthering the object of the organisation."
